Premium Timber Flooring in Warragul & Gippsland

Solid and engineered timber floors that age beautifully — supplied and installed by Gippsland's experienced timber flooring team.

ABOUT THE FLOORING

Nothing else looks quite like real timber.

Solid and engineered timber floors are the benchmark against which every other flooring product is measured. The warmth, the grain variation, the way light plays across a wide board — these are things that printed surfaces replicate but never quite match. For Gippsland homes investing in something permanent, premium timber is the floor that adds value, ages with character, and can be sanded back and re-finished multiple times over its lifetime.

WHY IT WORKS

Why premium timber still sets the standard in Gippsland homes.

Ages with character

Timber floors develop patina over time — they age beautifully rather than wearing out. Surface marks and grain variation tell a story rather than reading as damage.

Sand & refinish for life

Unlike any other flooring type, solid and thick-engineered timber can be fully sanded and re-coated to look brand new — extending the floor's life for decades.

Genuine warmth

Real timber has natural thermal mass and warmth underfoot that no manufactured product fully replicates. Particularly appreciated in Gippsland's cooler months.

Species variety

From Australian hardwoods like Spotted Gum and Blackbutt to European Oak in smoked, white and natural finishes — the range of species and character grades is unique to timber.

Adds property value

Genuine timber flooring consistently adds to resale value in a way that laminate and vinyl alternatives do not. Buyers recognise and pay for real timber.

Custom finishing options

Stained, oiled, white-oiled, smoked or left natural — timber's surface finish can be customised to complement your palette in a way no other floor allows.

OUR RANGES

Three timber formats for every Gippsland home and budget.

Timber selection is personal — grain pattern, species character and finish colour all matter. We come to you with samples so you can see them in your own space.

Range 01

Engineered Timber

A real timber veneer (2–4mm) over a stable plywood or HDF core. Floats or glues down over most substrates. More dimensionally stable than solid timber. Available in European Oak, Blackbutt, Spotted Gum and more.

Range 03

Wide Board & Feature Grade

Wider boards (180mm–240mm) in select and character grades that showcase natural timber variation — knots, gum veins and mineral streaks. For homes where the floor is meant to be the feature.

OUR PROCESS

From first consultation to a finished timber floor — in four stages.

01

Consultation & selection

We discuss your home's conditions, existing substrate and design direction to recommend the right timber species and format.

02

Acclimatisation

Timber must acclimatise to your home's humidity before installation. We deliver boards and allow the right settling time — skipping this causes gapping and cupping.

03

Substrate prep & installation

Subfloor must be flat and dry to fine tolerances for timber. We prepare, secret-nail or glue down the boards to specification.

04

Sand, coat & handover

After install, boards are machine sanded, any gaps filled, and finished in your chosen oil, lacquer or hardwax oil. A complete timber floor before we leave.

Ideal for

Main living and dining areas in quality homes. Heritage and period homes where authenticity matters. Master bedrooms and formal lounges. Investment properties targeting the premium rental market. New home builds with engineered timber throughout. Extensions and renovations connecting to existing timber floors.

QUESTIONS WE HEAR A LOT

The timber flooring FAQ.

How much does timber flooring cost installed in Warragul?

Engineered timber from $90–$180 per square metre installed including underlay, adhesive or fixings and finishing. Solid hardwood with sanding and coating from $120–$220 per square metre. Fixed-price quotes after a free measure and subfloor assessment.

What's the difference between solid and engineered timber?

Solid timber is a full-thickness board of one species — can be sanded many times over its life. Engineered timber has a real timber veneer on a plywood core — more dimensionally stable, can be floated rather than nailed, and suitable for over-slab installs. Most Gippsland renovators choose engineered for practicality, solid for purist preference.

Is timber flooring suitable for Gippsland's climate?

Yes, with the right product and installation. Solid timber needs careful acclimatisation and suits homes with a stable internal environment. Engineered timber handles Gippsland's humidity swings better. We recommend the right format for your specific conditions.

Can timber flooring be installed over concrete slabs?

Engineered timber can be glued or floated over concrete, with appropriate moisture testing and barrier installation. Solid timber is generally not suitable for direct over-slab install without a raised timber sub-floor. We assess your slab and moisture levels as part of the free consultation.

How long before I can use the floor after it's coated?

Oil finishes allow light foot traffic after 24 hours, full use after 5–7 days. Water-based polyurethane: 24 hours light traffic, 5 days full use. Solvent-based polyurethane: 24 hours light traffic, 7 days full use. We give you a specific timeline based on your chosen finish.

Do you sand and coat existing timber floors?

Yes. We offer sanding and recoating of existing solid and thick-engineered timber floors. Old floors can be brought back to looking new with a full sand, fill, and fresh oil or lacquer coat. Subject to timber being thick enough and in suitable condition — we assess on-site.
